Florentino Gutierrez, a Zapotec Indian weaver, and his cousin Hugo--also a weaver--are busying  themselves out in the yard this morning cutting branches to set up the yarn (hilo) for the warp (hilo de pie) for the loom (telar) in the courtyard of Starr Interiors. They are here to do a weaving demonstration tomorrow at Susanna Starr's gallery, Starr Interiors. I am doing something else this morning, so--unfortunately--I won't be able to photograph the process. But, time for that in Oaxaca.

This afternoon Florentino, his wife Eloisa and Hugo will go to Taos Indian Pueblo, the oldest continually inhabited dwelling in the USA, to see how the northern indigenous people live.

Still busy making plans and preparing for the journey.
