Our flight to Sao Paulo was wonderful... we were given business class seats on the new Korean Air direct flight from LA to Sao Paulo. The seats were comfortable, the media was entertaining and the food and service were amazing.

We were warmly welcomed at the airport and transported to Grand Hyatt Sao Paulo. The ride to the hotel was approximately 45-minutes due to traffic as, Sao Paulo is home to 18 million people.

Sao Paulo is known as the place where Brazil meets the world and the world meets Brazil.

We were warmly welcomed at the hotel upon our arrival by Silvio Araujo (Director of Marketing), Virginia Scherer (Assoc. Director of Sales), Rodrigo Napoli (Sales Manager) and Carl Emberson (our General Manager)... a huge thank you to our entire team for the very warm welcome!

Our accommodations were wonderful, everyone had a view of the new landmark cable bridge, photos in my blog. We had lunch with the team at Grand Cafe Restaurant for a perfect taste of Brazil. Following lunch we received a presentation of the hotel and destination as well as a site inspection.

Following the site the majority of the group decided to venture off into the walking area of the hotel. We visited the shopping center located across from the marketplace. I have pictures in my photo blog. The hotel is situated in a newer business district area, the immediate area is less than ten years old. Its not truly a walking area as, its a busy business district however, our group did enjoy the walk back to the hotel from the shopping plaza.

Later in the evening the entire group met for dinner at EAU. I have pictures of this experience in my photo blog as well. A huge thank you to our entire staff as our guests were truly blown away by this gastronomic experience!!!

Following dinner a group of us went off to experience the local nightlife. There are pictures of this local venue in my photo blog. It was nice to see couples dancing tango and salsa.

On day 2 we met for a tour of the city. I have lot's of pictures from the city tour which, I believe provide a good sense of this artistic, colorful metropolitan city that is filled with beautiful people. Sao Paulo is known as the place where Brazil meets the world and the world meets Brazil. Its not only the capital of business and events of Latin America, but also the entertainment and cultural center. Prestigious events include: Brazil F1 Grand Prix, SP Car Show, Sao Paulo Fashion Week, the largest Gay parade in the world, International Film Festival, Biennials of Books, Arts and Architecture, the Book Corridor of Av Paulista and also 120 performing arts theaters, 90 museums, 29 cultural centers, 260 movie theaters, 54 parks, 12,500 restaurants, 15,000 bars, 77 shopping malls and much more. Sao Paulo is a melting pot where people from 70 nationalities live which, includes the largest Japanese community outside of Japan. In this lively capital city people of different races, religions and ideologies live in peace and harmony.

Hyatt International organized a lunch at Fogo de Chao as there are a few restaurants throughout the US in case anyone craves Brazilian again. This restaurant features a spectacular salad bar and traditional Brazilian style cooked meats. The key feature is that you have a card with two-sides in front of you on one-side its green which, means you want more meat and on the other side its red which, means please stop for now. The one in Los Angeles is located on La Cienega in Beverly Hills in the area which, we refer to as "Restaurant Row".

The restaurant selected by the tourism bureau for dinner was incredible "Figueira Rubayat". We all arrived to the surprise of a huge Fig tree which is incorporated into the restaurant. The cuisine was fabulous, plenty of pics.

Following dinner a group of us went to the Sky Bar which, is a rooftop bar located at the Unique Hotel. Photos also included in my photo blog.

I would like to end by once again thanking our staff for their warm hospitality, our guide & driver for the wonderful tour and the tourism bureau for the tour and the amazing dinner at Figueira Rubayat... Thank you!!!

I would like to also thank our entire group for their continuous support, for joining us on this Fam and for being a wonderful group of amazing individuals as, I truly enjoyed spending time and getting to know each and every one of you!!!

I returned prior to my return home and arrived to the Sao Paulo Food & Wine event taking place at Grand Hyatt Sao Paulo, this event was organized by our GM, Carl Emberson and was a huge success for the city and hotel. The day of my return June 12th and was pleasantly suprised by "Dia dos Namorados" or "Day of the Enamored" a celebration of couples. Luckily for these couples the ballroom set the tone for a romantic dinner along with special cuisine prepared by the famous chefs who were in for the food & wine event. It was truly a site to see as, there were many gorgeous couples dressed up with the twinkle of love in their eyes. Fortunately for those who were without their significant others there was also a food&wine event in the restaurant for "singles".

The next morning I took a look at the Hilton and WTC Hotels, both are within close proximity to the Grand Hyatt and are the only other five stars within the vicinity. The WTC and Hilton are connected to each other through an underground shopping center. The WTC is actually the World Trade Center Hotel with massive convention space that is drawing thousands of visitors to the area.
