Oh, baby! Welcome to Paris is right. I love it! You can't see me right now, but I'm doing a little dance (as much as I dance, my leg is twitching). Anyway, I love it. Did I say that already? I actually conducted a transaction totally in French, except when I asked (in English) if the woman understand me. OUI!! Yahoo!! I have been on a roll, ordering food in French, etc. YES! She shoots, she scores! I started today by taking the open top bus (note to self, bring hat and gloves and sweater tomorrow) all around. My plan for today was to get my bearings, get an overview and then actually go places tomorrow. The Louvre is closed today anyway. We drove by the Eiffel Tower. Who would have thought that something like 10,000 tons of iron would make people go wobbly in the knees? Awesome.

My hotel room is a closet, the smallest yet, I think. BUT, it is in Montmarte, close to Sacre Coeur and the Moulin Rouge. I thought about going, however it is a ridiculous price and I can't wear my tennis shoes. Take anything, but not my tennis shoes. I may eat my way through Paris. A couple croissants and cappucinos are already under my belt, literally. The Sacre Coeur is not too far, and I will probably do that tomorrow morning before my double decker bus starts again. I can climb or take the funicular (there's that word again). Hmm, free or pay? We'll see.

I love the markets. Make me wished I cooked, or brought along someone who did. The seafood and the cheese. Oh, the cheese. I love cheese. The fruits and vegetables. Makes me almost want to eat one or two, but I need room for the CHEESE. Maybe I was Wallace or Grommit in a previous life.

Have I mentioned it's awesome? Brings back memories of my history classes and the French Revolution, the Republic, the Communes.

I find that I am less stressed than in Rome, the little walking I have done has actually been easier, and maybe I have found my place at last, because I did not get lost ONCE. NOT ONCE! Jinks.

It was nice to get to western Europe because I found that I had resorted to simply grunting responses, 'uh' meant 'yes, please, I'll take one'. A smile menat 'I have no idea what you said'. Very Cro-Magnon. It is nice to say complete sentences.

Oh, here's how comfortable I feel, I actually gave someone some directions. I don't usually, you know, the blind leading the blind, but I knew I was right. Yeah!

Tomorrow should be an aweseome day.

A bientot

Wow - you are in Paris and I'm in Horsham! Definitely you are the lucky one and NO cheese for me either. (: Glad to hear it's still going so well and the countdown is now on - you'll be home soon. Take care.
