1st day in Florida

1:30 Am

I slept for a couple hours and then took over driving, 15 miles before North Carolina border.  I drove until 5:50 Am, all the wayt through North Carolina and into South Carolina.  Chris woke up at 5:30 (work time) and offered to drive, I pulle dinto the next rest stop.  I stopped in N. Carolina and got gas, filled up, for $2.87/gal, Yukon got 18 MPG! wow! wooohooooo!

6:00 AM

Chris took over driving, I'm napping.  Kids slept good, Mike my co-pilot did also.

7:45 Am

Stopped at Waffle House in Georgia, ate and on road again by 8:10 !  Fast meal!

Stopped at rest stop in Florida, Josh is Ken's co-pilot, Chris and Mike are playing  golf and Jenn and I are watching Dirty Dancing , Havana Nights in the back seat, snuggling.

12Noon

Arrived at hotel in Daytona, Boardwalk Inn and Suites, got a suite for $119 a night, small but ok for all of us.  It cost $5 to go on beach and then more money to park car!

I took a shower, when I got out of shower the whole room smelled like cigarette smoke!  Apparently, the people in adjoining room were smoking and was drifting into our room.  Josh said the smoke was bothering him, Ken and I went to front desk and asked for another room.  Packed up suitcases and went to other room, it smelled like smoke.............went to lobby and asked for money back.  A cleaning lady came up to us and asked if there was a problem, she suggested we go 10 mins south to Sun Viking Motel.  Said it was new and nic for kids.  We finally got all the X-box things packed up and left to find Sun viking.  We got there and the price was $152 for suite that has balcony over looking ocean.  We decided to take it.  It is nice.......indoor and outdoor pools, hot tub, beach access, kids activities, free body boards for ocean and many other extras.

Went to sub shop and had hoagies and steak sandwiches, got a few groceries and came back to room.  Decided to go out and play mini golf.  We had a family bet, $2 anti/person.......winner gets $10 and 2nd place keeps $2.  I won and there was a tie for second place (Chris and Josh).  I decided to take out everyone for ice cream with my winnings. Ate ice cream, and came back to room.  Everyone did various things, hot tub, pool, journal, X-box, movies etc.....

Went to sleep......
