The Lonely Planet reckons the bus station is about 1 km from the centre of town.  It's not.  And it's not good to try and walk it if you're feeling crap after a crap pizza at Don Muchos in El Panchan.  Get a bus.

Monkey Hostel was really nice and clean.  Went for a short walk around town after arriving and it seems a pleasant place (although all the streets in the town centre look identical - every house is a different colour and there are no shop signs sticking out into the street).  Crashed out about 6 as I was just feeling rubbish.

Got chatting to a Canadian guy in my dorm called Galen and we decided to walk to around town and head to Fort San Lorenzo (I think that was the name of the place).  It's quite a distance from the centre but it's not a bad walk.  The views are pretty good the fort and there are some Mayan artifacts in the forts museum, even though the fort is Spanish.  It seems that nowhere in Mexico is complete without some Mayan artifacts.  Wandered around town and went to what must be the worlds smallest botanical garden, it was free though.  Couldn't really find much else to do in Campeche so decided to get an early bus to Cancun the next morning.

Got up at silly O'Clock, caught a local bus that had a sign saying ADO (the towns bus terminal) on it and spent the next 50 minutes being driven around the arse-end-of-nowhere on a bus that turned out not to go anywhere near the bus station.  Any hope of catching an early bus evaporated and I finally managed to get to the bus station in time to catch an 8am bus to Merida, where I caught another to Cancun.
