Finale Ligure...my Final Beach

I have learned from my past and booked a hostel called Pensione Enzo for the next 3 nights!  A curvy few hours on the road and 155 steps up and I am there!  Again, much like the town of Santa Margherita the town is set on a cove and built up into the hills.  In typical European style, the beach opportunists have gotten a hold of this place and it is difficult to find a free piece of beach without having to pay for a sun lounger or  umbrella, but I have read in my Let's Go Guide to Europe that there are beautiful FREE beaches just outside the town and boy are they right.

I lay down on the rocky beach and count the money I am saving on a hot stone massage at home as I jump from the cool water to the hot smooth stones on the beach, laughing all the way and the people around me think I am crazy (I think that is what LOCO means in Italian)!

sometimes it sucks to travel alone...

That night I watch Germany beat Argentina as I sit with 50 or so men as I sit and eat spaghetti in a restaurant on the beach.

The next day I once again am drawn to the beach and in the afternoon I watch as England gets eliminated from the World Cup.  I call home to commiserate with Dad, but end up speaking to Mum and Ben as I think he is too distraught..hee hee!

For the first time in my trip I got turned away from a restaurant tonight as they did not want to serve a single at a double table...sometimes it sucks to travel alone, but I find a nice place and enjoy a great meal anyways.
