We depart from the cruise ship at 12 noon. The ship docks and we leave and head back on the coach on our way to Olympia.

Small town but with such a great history

The drive is a short 1.5 hrs and we arrive in the very quiet town of Olympia. Home to the original Olympic game.

The street was filled with souvenir stores and does not stretch too far long. There are restaurants and cafes lined up.

Its reasonably quiet today and there is only a few tourists who have arrived.

We head over to Olympia Archaeology area where the stadium still stands and grab some pics. It is always an experience to be standing right at the spot where it all began.

We head on for lunch and grab some souvlaki from Greek restaurant on the main street. Food was decent but service was very slow.

We head back for rest and then dinner served at the hotel restaurant, which is very comfortable, and dinner is buffet.

We decided to walk off the food and head around the shops. There are plenty of tourists around and some locals are walking about town. It’s busy by night.

We take a short stroll until it is time to head back to the hotel while we enjoy the balcony and having some Mythos beer that got from the supermarket for 1 euro. Cheers!

My attempts to sleep in Olympia was very difficult as because we were about 5mins from the Olympic site I could hear the dogs howling at night and the only thing that spook me was that there are plenty of stray dogs that hang around and it was said that they believe they are the re incarnation of some of those once living in Olympia.

Olympia is a small town but with such a great history background so it was fantastic to have visited and seen.
