Canberra and the Family
From Australia Trip in Canberra, Australia on Dec 09 '07
What a trip out coming back! It was so good to see my family again. Mum and Tony picked me up for Sydney airport and I can tell you at that point all I wanted to do was to just get straight back on the plane. Them having to see me fat was my worst fear I think. I mean it's been a very long time and a lot has changed. I've been wit myself this whole time and it's been a gradual change of course but for people I haven't seen for a long time I'm sure it was quite startling.
Mum, Tony and I had a lovely lunch in Sydney after staying in the Ibis Hotel near the airport. We went to a veggie cafe called Johnnys cafe. Driving was good fun and Tony let me drive pretty much everywhere. It's such a different sort of driving to here. Here I generally can't get my car past 3rd gear! Coming back to Canberra was very strange. We had a lovely meal at Nana and Grandad's house the first night back in Canberra. Nana made a chilli dish - so nice to eat family food again :) The next night we (Nana, Grandad, Mum, Tony, Carrie and Andrew) went to Au Lac - a Vietnamese restaurant in Dickson - and had a lovely time!

Seeing Tulli was soooo goood. God, the first two days of being back actually, I was feeling very unsettled. I spent most of it crying. I was pretty upset about the fact that I have abandoned Tulli. I think I love her the most out of any creature in this world you know. Anyway, seeing her at Jane's eased my mind a bit. She's obviously happy there and I know that Jane really loves her. She is the most beautiful dog in the whole world.
I went out to pick the Christmas tree from the Christmas tree farm with Nana, Grandad, Carrie, Andrew, Connor and Brady. Wow, seeing Brady was incredible. He was just a babe in Carrie's arms when I left. They are both such lovely boys. I decorated the Christmas tree at Nana and Grandad's which was fun.

The day after Christmas we had a really nice BBQ and by this time Karla and Judy had arrived. Karla and I also went out for lunch in Civic at Cafe Essen - it was great to catch up! Karla, you're great :) Our girls night out was a blast too. Three mothers and daughters... Nana took us out to an the Jewel of India (?) I think in Manuka. The food was lovely and the company was even better.
Down at Sundown Resort I ventured down to the pool to sunbake a couple of times which was lovely! And haven't the fruit trees grown since I last saw them. Nice to see that our garden efforts from when before I left are still evident.
Canberra is a bit of a hole in some ways. Like getting a taxi was ridiculous. An hour late! What sort of backward place is it? But then the luxurious lifestyle and spaciousness is not to be sneezed at. It definitely has it's charms I've decided.
