This purpose of this trip was mainly to work on some details for our upcoming move and house building in Portal. Because of some weird scheduling constraints, our itinerary was a bit unusual but it worked out.

After a business trip in Ohio, I flew to Phoenix Tues. night. (It was a long, long trip especially with the time change and a tiring couple days before.) Brad flew from LA to Phoenix Wed. morning to meet me. I apparently scheduled his flight wrong -- we had thought he'd arrive at 7:30, but it ended up more like 9:30. I used the time to catch up on email and some work stuff.

Because of some weird scheduling constraints, our itinerary was a bit unusual but it worked out.

After Brad arrived, we picked up our rental car and started the trip. We had a long drive to get to Taos by Wed. night. We headed north and got to Flagstaff at a little after noon. We were both hungry so we stopped for lunch. I had been to Flagstaff several times before on business and had heard there was a great part of downtown, but had never actually seen it. On this trip we did. It was really fun, and we wished we had more time to explore it. Next time. We ate lunch at a fun brew pub that featured Grateful Dead music. I had a yummy grilled veggie sandwich with fries with chili mayonnaise on the side.

We hit the road again and headed toward Winslow, a drive I've done many times. Each time I have passed the Meteor Crater and for one reason or another, I've never been able to see it. This time was no exception. With several hours to go, we just didn't have time. Next time.

The rest of the drive was uneventful. The scenery was pretty, especially around the Petrified National Forest, which unfortunately, Brad slept through the best part of. By the time we got to NM, it was mostly dark.

With the time change, it was after 11:00 when we got to Taos.
