It was desperately cold and windy. I thought I would be blown over or have the skin peeled from my frozen face. The sun was out though and the countryside was beautiful. My great aunt and uncle (Barbara and Wayne Young who live in up state N.J.) picked me up @ 1 and took me to lunch at White House Station. They are sweeties and very enthusiastic. They gave me maps and granola bars. Wayne tried my pack and was impressed by its weight or perhaps he was impressed that I could carry it.

I walked on a small road along the railroad tracks to Lebanon. I saw a flag lying in a ditch, having blown from a mailbox post. I replaced it for them. Because if the nice little girl walking down the lane can’t be bothered....
I had been struggling all day to keep my water from freezing.
I stopped short of my intended state park camping destination because of the wind, threat of snow and it being so cold. I had been struggling all day to keep my water from freezing. So I stayed at the only accommodation – the Marriott. $150 for a room is way over my daily budget but at least it's warm. I made use of the spa and fitness center. (That was a joke there about the fitness center.)
