Bunratty Castle
From from Brooklyn to Massachusetts and back in Bunratty, Ireland on Jun 23 '07
Bunratty Castle has a medieval banquet which was recommended, but it was sold out so we got tickets for Traditional Irish Night in the Corn Barn at Bunratty Folk Park. The name Bunratty, or possibly Bun na Raite in Irish, means the 'bottom' or end of the 'Ratty' river. This river, alongside the castle, flows into the nearby Shannon Estuary. At Irish Night guests were seated at table of 8 where we could all see the entertainment, traditional music & dance plus some singing with audience participation & a humorous MC. We enjoyed chatting with Mr. John O'Brien and his wife, who were from Tipperary. We exchanged cards, he is a Livestock Auctioneer.
