Okavango Delta

We are back in Maun after our two night stay in the Okavango Delta. It was incredible. We took a truck loaded with our gear from the Situtanga Camp early in the morning out to the delta. The local villagers took us out on mokoros (small canoe-like boats) through the shallow water of the delta to our camping spot. We set up tents and enjoyed a nice few days away from everything. They let us try out their mokoros and we polled them around the water. We went swimming in a swimming hole with water colder than the Pacific Ocean. Each morning we woke up at dawn and took a hike with our guide to look for game. Zebras, Giraffes, Wildebeasts, Warthogs, Elephants, Impala, Black-backed Jackals, Baboons, Ostriches, and lots of birds. We took a hike at sunset as well. Quite amazing. When we came back to Maun after a couple days we took a small plane ride over the delta where we could see the animals even better. Elephants crossing the water, hippos staying cool from the sun. Since it is winter, it gets very cold in the morning and at night, but the daytime temperatures are very nice with lots of sun. I have lots more to explain, but I would fully recommend coming to spend a few days on the delta with the wonderful local people.
