We caught a bus from Kastraki to Trikala at 8:50 AM, then a bus to Lamia, then to Amfissa, arriving at 2:15 PM. We had been told that we'd be in Delphi at this point and were frustrated to learn the bus for Delphi didn't leave til 3:30 PM. We finally arrived in Delphi til 4:15 PM, checked into our hotel and hurried over to the ruins of Ancient Delphi. Ancient Delphi and the Sanctuary of Athena were built on the slopes of Mt. Parnassos overlooking the Gulf of Corinth. The view of the valley of cypress and olive trees is breathtaking.  We thought the highlight of the site was the stadium where you could imagine the thousands of spectators cheering the sprinters on at the starting blocks.  You could see the remaining columns of the Temple of Apollo where the oracle sat.

After we'd finished with the site, we met up with Alex, as well another Canadian and an American we'd met on the bus, and went for dinner.  We shared wine and ate dinner on a shaded terrace overlooking the gulf.

The next morning we left for Athens with one day to go before leaving Athens.
