The way for our flight to Brussels took forever. We decided to arrive here earlier then usual since our last sting at Schiphol Amsterdam airport. The stress was too much so we decided to arrive at the airport extra extra early for any surprises. We manage to keep ourselves entertained and enjoying a late lunch at the cafe.

The airport is buzzing with business people and travelers. It's always great being at the airport. Going through security  my chewing gum packet buzzing and my belt delayed the process but we get through fine. We wait by gate 42 waiting for our flight . Then we were directed to go to gate 47 only to be directed to gate 42 a second time.

We board the plane to find it was an empty flight. I slept through most of the 2hr flight. We touch down at Brussels airport and walked for what seemed like 20 mins until we reach the exit and baggage claim and proceed to the train station.

For EURO 2.90 we board the Airport city express to Central station which was 2 stops away. The total trip was 20 mins. The trains were not luggage friendly. they had overhead luggage space but you had to be Hercules to be able to lift a 20kg suitcase that high up.

The train became full with normal passengers and the not so normal. Thankfully the trip was a short one. We arrive at Central station.

Central station was not what I had expected to be. It was dark and underground and I didn't feel very safe. We followed fellow passengers up towards the exit and was delighted to see light.

We head to information centre to get directions to our hotel ' Moon Hotel'.

Headed through the cobble streets in the rain and in the dark to find our hotel.

The hotel has no elevators so we carried our suitcase up one flight of stairs to reception to check in. Grabbed our keys to find we had another flight of stairs to our room. The room is decent. The hotel itself is perfectly located on the main street and very close to all the attractions.

We head downstairs into town to find myself a replacement luggage. The trip from Norway to Belgium must have been a rough one as the handle of my luggage snapped. Again I am completely jinxed with my luggage since leaving Sydney. I managed to get a new one from the souvenir store.

We head over to Quick Restaurant – a burger joint to have dinner. The burgers were less then ordinary but it was quick and convenient. We walk through the streets until it was late and the weather becomes freezing cold, so we resort back to the hotel for a snooze. Tomorrow will again be a very busy day with plenty things to cover. My legs are still recovering from Norway.

My first impression arriving into Brussels tonight were the building looked classy and stylish, the restaurant lights all looked beautiful all lit up and the atmosphere was pleasant. The busker playing saxophone in the rain added more to the atmosphere. Tomorrow we will get to see what Brussels has to offer during the day.
