We started our drive north from Peninsula Valdez to Cordoba nice an early on 30th April.  Had a little trouble negotiating Bahia Blanca, and arrived in the town of Villa Ventana, just north east of Tornquist, in the dark once again.  We must have put the tent up in the dark more times than in the light now.  Always trying to get too far.

In the morning we drove 5kms up the road to the National Park entrance expecting to have this little heard of National Park (Sierra de la Ventana) to ourselves.  However, we could barely squeeze into the car park as it was Labour Day in Argentina, and the of the country seemed to be trying to climb this mountain.  Needless to say it was a crowded climb up, and we even had to queue at the viewpoint.  But in some ways it was nice to have some extra company after the last few weeks of feeling like it was the low season everywhere we went.

From the photo you´ll be able to see that the national park is named after this mountain, Ventana means ´Window´in English, and indeed, at the top of Window mountain (located in Window national park, near Window Town) is a window, quite a big one, and no glass.  Still quite a view.

The town of Villa Ventana is a funny one, feels very German, lots of wooden chalet type houses, tall green trees and wood smoke.  But a nice touristic place to stay.
