An overnight bus journey of 12 hours brought me to Mexico City (south terminal). Once again the bus was freezing :o) I grabbed an authorised taxi and for $95 it brought me to Condesa the neighbourhood where I'll be staying.

I've checked myself into a penthouse apartment where the owner-occupier Thomas (French) rents out three rooms. I'm in room with a king-sized bed (yes) and en-suite. The apartment is really nice and Thomas has made me feel like I own the place (which I kinda do until tomorrow when more guests check-in).

Last 2 nights in Mexico City..

I decided to take a stroll around the neighbourhood and I really like the atmosphere and everything in general really. It's one of Mexico City's finer, more expensive places so that could be why either. :o) I feel completely safe and there are tons of restaurants, boutique shops, bars ane nightclubs. It's been compared to Notting Hill or Grenwich Village but for me it reminds me of Palermo in Buenos Aires. There are alot of really nice parks around also. I caught the Metro (which is really good and so cheap at 2 pesos per trip) and went to the heart of the city Zocola and Bellas Artes taking some photos along the way.

For my last Saturday I had made plans but they back-fired so I did something new which was to go out and party without knowing anyone. I took down a few places from the net and as luck would have it they where only 3-4 blocks away from the apartment. I partied hard getting home at 6am.

Places to go (all in Condesa):

  • Black Horse (English Pub).
  • Celtics (Irish Bar).
  • Cafeina - good dance / electro music.
  • PM (used to be called AM). Club I ended up partying late til. Good music.
  • La Pata Negra.

Feeling the effects I did't do too much the next day. I had good intentions though heading to the Museum of Antropology. It being a Sunday it was free, good idea, shared by about a thousand other people, bad idea. The queue was huge so I left it. I also wanted to go shopping in Polanco but most of them where closed. That night I had dinner in Condesa followed by dessert :o)

I called a taxi to the airport and said goodbye to Mexico City and the end of my trip. I flew home with Contintenal via Newark (4hr 12 flight time) and then to Dublin (6h 15) arriving at 9.30am GMT. A long enough day. I really liked Mexico City and Condesa particularly. With only 2 days there to say I only scratched the surface would an understatement. I found the people to be really nice. Next time I return hopefully my Spanish will be alot better :o)

So, that's the end of another trip. This one was more of a vacation, considering my RTW, but still a nice length in that. I had an amazing time and everywhere I went I immensely enjoyed. Travelling solo for the first time was a great experience and something I would do again.

I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone I met! :o)
