This is the story of my guidebooks´adventure:

I thought Spectra love me. I thought she respected the vast array of information I provided her. She leafed through my pages constantly, turning them soft with use. She´d even occasionally tear out a page or two so as to keep me close to her when it wasn´t safe to walk around appearing like the befuddled tourist she is. But, alas, it was not so. She left me at the hostel on her way to Salvador. I waited patiently for her to return, but she did not. I had been abandoned.

But when I had finally given up hope, a taxi driver appeared and rushed me to the airport, reuniting me with a relieved Spectra. Rather than buying a new guide book for US $60 at the airport, she had enlisted the tourist information booth in helping her call the hostel to have the book sent by taxi US $25. She vowed to keep me safe for then on.

However, when we arrived in Salvador by taxi we were descended upon by men who appeared as Golems (wanting us to pay them to show us to a hostel). Scary. Then, when we arrived at the hostel is was a terrible dump. Scary - scary. But, Spectra stayed true to her word and kept me close. The next day we moved to a nice hostel and I´ve been enjoying Salvador ever since.

Since I have lost my eyeglasses when they were on my head, I cannot throw stones at anyone else who has lost something important to them. Wise decision to call for the return of the used guidebk rather than pay for a new one!! make a checklist for when you leave one location for a move to a new one. To err is human, to forgive others and ourselves is divine!! Love ya! Is he serious about the $1? I don't think he has really won that fair and square....

HA! Bo totally owes me $1. She said you wouldn't go crazy until you reached Teirra del Fuego. I said you wouldn't make it out of Brazil. I WIN! Just remember, no matter what your guide book tells you don't drink that alcohol fermented with human spit. I'll never make that mistake a fourth time.

Hi, My name's Debbie. I work for Just Go Guides, a new travel guide set to be launched early next year. I was wondering if you would be interested in letting us use one of your stories in the guide. We would include a link back to your site of course. If you are interested then please contact me, debbie.jacobs@justgoguides.com Thanks a lot, Debbie
