We took a 2.5 hour van ride to Tikal, Guatemala from our hotel in San Ignacio. The roads in Guatemala were unpaved with lots of pot-holes, but it was interesting seeing the landscape along the way. The Tikal ruins are huge and really impressive. It is still an active archaelogical site, and we saw the archaelogist dig sites/gear scattered throughout.
