Milos residents are cave-dwellers. The sandstone is very solid but easy to carve. We explored extensive caves that were used as catacombs and we also explored several more that we encountered along the trails. It was fairly common for someone to have a cave next to their house to serve as a garage or storage unit.
We saw the cave where Venus De Milo was found a number of years ago. They tied a rope to her and dragged the incredible statue across the rocks to their ship. The arms fell off along the way, but who cares? They didn't bother to go back and get them. With a face like that, who looks at the arms?
