Next on our list was a visit to Brisbane but on the way we just had to stop off at Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo. We arrived and although it was quite expensive to get in it was a really good day. It had a real emphasis on the protection of animals and preserving the planet etc which was quite nice to see but also meant they were pretty open in terms of animal enclosures. For example, the Kangaroo area was just a park without any fences or zoo keepers so we could go up to all the Kangaroos and stroke and feed them. We got some pretty cool photos of that. We started however with one of the famous croc shows at the "Crocoseum". Here they brought out some crocs and showed us how they move through the water and how they can go about catching food by the banks. They also put on a pretty good bird show. Around the zoo we saw some Tasmanian Devils, Wombats (Paul's favourite...because they are the animal version of Paul!) Koalas and at last a Cassowary! Natalie and i also had our photos taken holding one of the Koalas.

Leaving there we continued to Brisbane where we parked up in what seemed to be some blokes back garden...definately the worst campsite we've been to although it was the only one near the centre of town. As a warm up to Paddys Day we met up with our mate Chris who we met on the Whitsundays for a few beers.

We heard on the grapevine that there was a pub opening at 8 in the morning so we thought it would be rude not to keep them company. Off us lads went for the first of many Guinnesses, leaving behind Natalie who had a lie in and did some shopping or something. Chris joined us about 10 o'clock and apologised for his lateness by buying a round of shots (not recommended at that time of day). We spent the whole day touring thr pubs of Brisbane, accumulating free beer merchandise and generally joining in with the craic as there were a hell of a lot of Irish out. Natalie made it out for one drink but ended up going home about 8pm as she had been drinking Goon during the day and was worse for wear! We boys took it for the team though and stayed out to the early hours. Best Paddys day ever.

The next few days was spent chilling out in a few outdoor cafes and doing a bit of shopping. Its a nice city, good for the amount of time we had there but i think we all felt it was a good time to leave. Onwards to Nimbin!
