My final day in Rome... in a few hours I would be flying home. Back to the Aussie heat of summer, back to friends and family... back to work :P

Jordy left early that morning. Her flight to London returning her home before I even needed to get to the airport for my own. Once again I found myself wandering through Rome solo with an entire morning to fill with historic sights and gelato. I caught the metro north to the Spanish Steps and disappeared into the Villa Borghese, the plan was to slowly make way down into the Piazza del Popolo (an interesting walk from the Villa Borghese as you go through a park which is full of random busts of influential people to Rome... very weird to see random heads everywhere I assure you), across the river to the Castel Sant'Angelo and the Bridge of Angels. To those of you familiar with Rome... yes I was heading, inevitably to Saint Peters and Vatican City... a place I have never had too much compunction to visit. But Jordy said it was worth a look so I moseyed over. Due to a lack of wow factor I was only at Saint Peters for about five minutes before the continual harassment by hawkers moved me on. No Jordy - to answer your question - I didn't go in. The line was long, the day was hot and there were no gelato stands in the near vicinity. So I walked north towards the metro and home. On my way there however I happened upon one of the highlights of my trip... a Magik shop. It is here that I spent my last hour in Rome, surrounded by trolls and faeries, swords and wands, spell books and potions. Completely un-Italian but nevertheless a very Vicki way to end a holiday!

Ciao Bella!
