Tanga again...?

This weekend we were all due to go to Lushoto but I find myself in Tanga once more.  I have to go to have tests done at the hospital as I have had Malaria for 2 weeks and now I have tummy pain.  Guess what?  I still have Malaria and some nasty Amoeba thing which is most unwelcome!  The staff at the hospital ( which is run by the Catholic church ) have been very kind and given me all the tablets I need with lots of advice but I am just relieved to know what the problem is.

Unfortunately, because of being poorly I have not managed to give my teaching a good crack.  The children are very enthusiastic but their skills vary quite considerably so some will of course fall behind.

The other day as I walked to my Standard 2 class they saw me approaching and all raced toward the classroom, which they share with the 1's.  The little Standard 1's got shoved out mid lesson, replaced by eager faces and a very, very loud "GOOD MORNING, MADAM!!!"

Tomorrow we will collect the others from Lushoto, so I will see it briefly. Then back to Yamba where us 'Muzungos' are multiplying as we now have 2 water volunteers staying in the village.  On Friday the whole village will have a party to celebrate the arrival of all the volunteers and their friends and family members who arrive this week.  I so do hope I feel better by then!!!

Tanga itself is busy but not overly so.  There are a lot of banks, a western supermarket to stock up on Pringle crisps and Dairy Milk...or the odd bottle of vino colapso! There is a huge fruit and veg market where you can haggle for a good bargain and get some exotic fruits which I have never seen before but taste so sweet!

There is a place called the Yacht Club which you will find at the end of a long line of coastal lodgings/bar/restaurants.  This particular pad is where people stop over, mooring there yachts in the marina and enjoy a bit of chilled company.  People do come from all over but it was a bit 'chocks away ol' chap' the evening we were there.  And I did make the hideous mistake of yelling out to my chums "Whoa, Blighty!" and the whole place looked up.  A tad embarrassing, hmm.  However, a very pleasant place to eat and the sunset was a glorious orange descent.
