Konstanz is a university town with about 80,000 inhabitants.  At the western end of Lake Constance (or Bodensee in German) is the SW corner of Germany and the border to Switzerland.  We first stopped at a nearby Monastery (Kloster Birnau) and got to have a beautiful overlooking view of the Bodensee.  Then we travelled with the bus to a town called Meersburg and got to take a tour of their castle.  From here we took the ferry across to Konstanz and then got to wander through the city.  We also found the border between Switzerland and decided it would be pretty neat to be in two countries at once!!

Little history about Konstanz is that it was luckily not bombed in WWII since it is practically a part of Switzerland, the city just left all their lights on at night tricking the Allie Forces and thus the city was saved.
