Sawadi Ka Everyone!
I am here, still alive in Thailand. I am living in a small town called Phukieo (Puk-ee-ow), in the distruict of Chaiyaphum (north of Bangkok). I am loving life as I teach English to about 1,000 students per week, many whom are VERY bad and disinterested (to the point I almost want to get physical (touching is almost not allowed, but I do. "Teacher is Beauti-fell" in Thai is what we all hear 50 x per day) I Just yell "Absent!! after I call their number, and they recoil), while others are amazingly interested and smart,....you never know what is to come class to class- it depends on their mood I suppose. Overall it's great. I think though, whatever will I do when I get back to the states?? I want to look into child pshycology....(what do you think mom???)
Where did I leave off...lets see. I spent a week before coming here on an island called Koh Phangan where I had much fun with 5 friends who I am not placed with, doing random things. After that, I arrived here where I met my 4 roommates: 2 brits from the U.K. (Heather and Claire) who are fantastic, as well as two from the Phillipinos (Devina and Giselle). We all have an amazing dynamic going, and I am so appeciative of us being placed together. We have been discussing Christmas lately, and shockingly (since the country is 95% Buddhist), they sell a few fake trees here (for all the farangs i.e. forigners) and, we plan to party it up big time on x-mas eve. We have off of work on the 24th for Thai elections, so that is our day to do it! I am going to make oatmeal and a frattata (or something similar) in our wok It's an adventure!!! I will take photos and tell you how it went! The food here is very repetitive...rice, rice, curry, and more rice, YUM!
Other then that, I do not know what the future brings. I am finshed here around March 1st, and I may continue my contract for another 4 months (but prolly not), then move on to Australia, Nepal, etc. Most of it is finacially motivated, so we'll see. I really love it here in Thiland, but miss Kenya severly (especially my kiddos!!), so who knows. I like not knowing what the future brings, though it is scary at the same time. Thus is the story of my lfe. I promise I will catch up more often, as I know this was short ( bthough sweet too I hope!).
I love you all who are reading this, and miss you SO much.
Emial me, and I will send you my specfic mail address, as I want yours too for x-mas cards, etc.
Love,love,love,
me
