I've been let in, after a great cheap flight A flight with only one whitie on board and another 15 passengers including the 5 staff. 1st class service I think due to the boredom.

After 1 weeks training in Taipei, meeting other newees from the likes of America, Canada, South Africa and Australia taking on board the Taiwanese way. The 'way' being very open minded and willing to go by life with broken rules or no rules rather.

An awesome 2hour bus trip with a hostess, free Tea, your own TV and a massage chair (I kid you not) Myself and a another loony willing to take on the crazy kids of Taiwan pitch up on a rather large pad in the center of Taichung. 3 bedroom, 2 balconies, and the rest is just BIG. Within 3 days we're let lose on the children of Taichung.

In 2 and a bit months, I've climbed, trekked, trekked and trekked, visited markets, temples upon temples, made myself accustomed to the road safety and hospital service which makes the NHS look like sesame street, drank gallons of Tea, approached locals with my fluent chinese (hmm) and not received the welcoming I had hoped oh and taught many classes.

As far as the locals are concerned Taiwan is Taiwan and a million miles away from China, ladies winge and whine and blue vans run you over twice to be sure your not moving. Apart from that, its one of the most welcoming Asian countries I have visited and has endless of activities and cultural events.

Did I make the right choice..........
