As my time in Melbourne drew to a close I finished work, went on a tour of the Great Ocean Road and had some Christmas barbeques and final nights out. The Saturday before leaving I spent the day on a bus driving through the Great Ocean Road. Its a really windy steep drive with the most fabulous views of the ocean Ive ever seen. We stopped at some amazing beaches including Torquay the home of the famous Ripcurl and Billabong brands. We also visited the lighthouse made famous in that childhood tv show 'Around The Twist', whoever is around my age is bound to remember it. I met a girl on the tour who I had stayed in a hostel with in Perth, its such a small world. We stopped off at the famous 12 Apostles formations and finally Loch Ard where a ship traveling to Oz in years gone by carrying Irish people sunk and a guy and girl survived. The media tried to make a love story out of them but the girl wasnt having any of it and went off back to Ireland!

We had a Christmas barbeque then on the Sunday and Jim did a fine barbeque, hes a great cook. It was a really nice day and we all had lots to eat and drink as usual. Went out on the beer then a good few nights before leaving, I had an incident in a trolley and am covered in bruises but its all fun and games! We paid a visit to Luna Park too which is like an old fashioned amusement park and went on all the scary rides, this was literally on our doorstep so thought it was time to pay it a visit. We had great fun here, scaring the crap out of ourselves on some of the rides, hanging upside down in the air, serious blood rush to the head.

The girls and I did secret santa as we knew that would be the only pressies we would get this year! I got lots of nice things-a book, mascara, toiletries.. it was nice. There is not half as much fuss over here for Christmas. You would hardly know it was Christmas at all until you go into the city & see the big plastic tree & all the shops with their decorations up. I really liked Melbourne, thought it was a really cool city but am also looking forward to checking out Sydney. Happy Christmas and New Year and Ill update again in the New Year :-)
