Recovering from the Trek in Ko Phagnan
From The Otherside in Ko Phangan, Thailand on May 31 '07

Yep, we survived the high altitude of Everest the past few weeks and are on to the beaches of Thailand. Flew into Bangkok June 1st and have bought a plane ticket down to Ko Samui the next day, which (to us) was completely not worth our time. We made the mistake of staying at the "most touristy" beach, which was filled with drunk white trash chasing Thai hookers all around. I think this is the place people warn you about if you are a guy traveling in Thailand and a pretty young "lady" (lady boy) comes on to you... and then they find themselves in a questionable situation, if you're catching my drift. We also got in pretty late to the island and pretty much all of the Hotel Receptions were closed at 10 or 11 PM, so we had to stay at a ridiculously overpriced resort that had the money to have a receptionist behind the counter 24 hours. We should have just stayed on the beach because we were on a ferry off of Ko Samui by mid-morning.
And it was on to Ko Phangam, where the famous Full Moon Party takes place (basically a wild beach party taking place on the Full Moon, filled with liquor-filled buckets of drunken dabauchery.) The Full Moon was actually on June 1st and we were a few days late, so we went anyway, which was better because you can catch great deals after everyone clears off of the island after the Full Moon Party, and we were all in the mood for a relaxing time. We found this great little place (on the quiet side of the island, in Ao Chao Phao) called Seethanu Bungalows. It was a privately owned place, so we were able to get a great deal on two bungalows RIGHT on the beach. Just what we needed after Everest kicked our butts. And toned them too! :)

In Ko Phangan, our days were filled with lounging on the same beach right outside our door and watching sunsets from the crystal clear water, in between delicious meals cooked by the owner of Seethanu, including tons of banana and pineapple shakes. I wish I could say we were more active than just lazing the days away on beautiful Thai beaches (as you are all back home working away) but the truth of the matter is, well... that's all we did. And it was spec-tac-u-lar.
