Beautiful baroque Varaždin lies about 80kms north of Zagreb towards the Hungarian border and is famous for its architecture, medieval castle and nearby thermal springs.

Varaždin is a popular place for foreigners and Zagrepćani alike for its music, food and festivals of which Špancir fest every September is one of the most popular.

Klipić & cake

Whilst here you have to try the local specialities; Klipić - a savoury cheese, ham or other filling pastry & various creamy yummy cakes. Of course we sat down and partook of a few different types just to familiarise ourselves with the differences ;-)
