Midland and the Huron Ouendat Village

Leaving Loon Song, we drove south back towards Toronto stopping about halfway in Midland. The Super 8 motel we stayed in was quiet and as a result we were upgraded from our unfurnished store room above the kitchen, to one with a large bed and Junior suite. The Junior suite was literally that, a separate room off the main one with bunk beds, plasma TV and XBox 360 just for the kids. Much bouncing around and cheering ensued. And did not end until the next morning when two tired parents and two square-eyed children cancelled lessons in favour of a trip to the local museum which recreates a 16th century Huron Ouendat (Canadian Indian) village. Despite our fears, the boys loved it, even though it's an outdoor exhibit and it's still stinking-hot here. Taking on the roles of tour guides came naturally to Sam and I and our tales of medicine men, sacrifices, spirits and weapons (reading from the free leaflet, naturally) kept the boys entertained until it was time to complete our journey to Toronto, where we checked into our new hotel (minus any sign of bunk beds and video games) where we will spend the next 7 nights while Sam continues with her new film and me and the boys (and Sam when she isn't working) take advantage of the Toronto City Pass which gives discounted entry into the city's most touristy attractions.
The 'Indian' summer continues.....geddit?
