Lima - Not much more than chilling
From Peru in Lima, Peru on Aug 17 '07
Saturday 18th August – Lima
Chill out day number 1 of 3. We decided upon getting to Lima that there wasn't much in the city for us to see, so we decided just to be by the ocean and relax. Today after meeting Damian for breakfast we went grocery shopping and bought a whole lot of food (including creamed corn) to make up toasted sandwiches – yummy. After not having them for a couple of months we were both very excited. We did buy way to much food as it was more expensive than our usual dinner bill but it was so good. Jo spoke to Mum for a while which was cool and then we chilled out playing cards and searching the net. In the evening we met up with Damian for Sushi. Again another luxury! It was so good, although costing a fortune by Peruvian standards, the seafood was so fresh. We gobbled it up within minutes then continued to play more cards. After Damian beat us good and fair we wandered back to the hotel and said goodbye to Damian who was due to fly out the next morning.
Sunday 19th August – Lima
Chill out day number 2 of 3. Jo woke up to the screams of Leigh watching Man Utd vs Man City. It wasn't a pretty site seeing Leigh getting all worked up about their loss, but was quickly distracted on the offer of cereal and yoghurt. We got so sick of eating stale bread and jam for breakfast in South America that having cereal is so nice. After breakfast we had a wee kip before heading to the sea a few blocks away to go for a walk. We came across a massive very exclusive type shopping mall which we decided to hang in for the afternoon. After having dunken donuts we thought we would continue acting like Americans and go to Tony Ramos steak house for dinner. Boy it was good... Jo had fajitas and Leigh the usual burger. Afterwards we thought we would top it off with a lovely icecream. It was so good! We then wandered back along the waterfront to go back to our hotel for more chilling out and catching up on the news of the world.
Monday 20th August – Lima
Chill out day number 3 of 3. After another sleep in we decided to go to Starbucks and update our blog. So after a nice wander down to the same exclusive shopping mall overlooking the sea about 150m below, we sat in the Cafe and completed our outstanding Admin. We actually quite enjoy admin days as it means you catch up on everything. Afterwards we decided to go back to Tony Ramos and have a late lunch/early dinner. After ordering an onion loaf which is basically a whole lot of deep fried onion formed into a massive tall loaf and Leigh again burgers, we wandered back to our home and packed to catch our flight to the US tomorrow! We have both absolutely loved every minute of our trip to South America, but we are really looking forward to getting to the States!
