The Adventure Begins

Having slept for 2/3 of my flight from Frankfurt to Singapore I was wide awake and full of a mixture of excitment and apprehension of the adventure that lay ahead of me as the plane touched down. Singapore airport has to be the most impressive airport I have seen to date - modern, big, clean, friendly, free internet.

Getting my bag and finding my way to a taxi was hassle free. As the taxi headed towards The Hangout, I was extremely surprised at what a big city Singapore was - full of high rise buildings that were very impressive lit up at night. My accomodation is really nice - after checking in and showering I made my way to the 7th floor roof top for a view of the city down below - as we are up on a hill it is quiet impressive. As the sun was setting behind the sky scrapers a rush of excitment ran over me and I temporarily forgot about any anxieties that had built up inside of my since waving goodbye to my parents at Dublin airport some 24 hours earlier.

After that it was to the pub across the road where I ordered a tiger beer and had a friendly chat with one of the bar staff - I was thirsty after all the travelling!! He was only too keen to take my map off me and tell me where to go, what to eat etc. First impressions of Singapore - what a friendly place, let the adventure begin!!
