Neighbours trip BABY!!
From Round The World Trip '07 in Melbourne, Australia on Mar 26 '07
Well Anjali (my current travel buddy/angel in disguise) has persuaded me to do the ultimate Melbourne faux pas...and go on a Neighbours tour. For those of you who are lucky enough not to know what Neighbours is, it's a dodgy OZ soap that is shown in the UK, and has nearly cult-like status for some sad individuals. So we went, and i pretended to enjoy it (this was the bargain...i will tell you what i got out of it later!)
First stop was a gorgeous view over melbourne city/skyline. I was pleased to see that maybe there might be some other values to the tour, so snapped away..until my camera battery ran out (photos are being sent over soon by Anjali, fear not my dears!) And then we went to see the church where Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan (whatever there characters were called) got wed. It was pretty...Anjali nearly wet here pants with excitement whilst i compared Yorkshire accents with the Doncaster guide..yes! Next stop was the studio, where we peeked a look at the coffee shop, and then onto the school (Erinsborough high) I was nearly dead by this time, i considered jumping from a moving mini bus to escape!)
Ramsay St was interesting...but what happened later was even better!
Then it was time for the grand finale...drum roll please, ramsay st!!! (which is actually NOT CALLED RAMSAY ST-how disappointing?!) We had a sign, we took photos, there was a security guard, he laughed at us and told us information about what was happening during filming etc. After that i perked up a bit and went to a lovely park with the rest of the group next to a lake and eat food (this always makes me happy!) We also saw a pagan wedding which was funny. They were all wearing black satin apart from the bride who was wearing a pink tutu thing with a train of pink lace. Very interesting indeed.
After the tour was finished, Anjali and i walked through Little Italy eating icecream and went back to our hostel to prepare for my side of the bargain...much bigger drumroll please.................................................................................................................................................................................................................ME GETTING A TATTOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well ladies and gentleman, i went, it wasn't painful and i now am the proud owner of a tattoo. It's a phoenix on my butt, in black ink with a bit of shading!!!! (i LOVE IT) the guy loved my butt i think too, the most embarrassing thing was getting tattooed in front of 3 other men, but Anjali kept my company and afterwards i went back to the hostel and got a free glass of wine...or seven for my braveness. I then packed, whilst laughing to myself about what Ma and Pa Witty were going to say!
(just incase you're worred i've died from there anger, they're not particualarly fussed!)
