A refreshing sleep at the Quality Inn had us up early for a lovely run along the wharf where we spotted sea lions and toured the rest of downtown. We stole a few extra banana's from our continental breakfast and hit the road to Monterey. More beautiful coastal scenes followed us until we got to Big Sur State Park. We hiked along 2 of the half-dozen trails. Humongous Red Woods lined our paths. These trees have been around since dinosaur times. They are the tallest living organism in the world with the largest specimen over 3200 feet tall... well I can't actually remember how tall, but they're freakin' tall, take my word for it. During the hike, Craig sang Kumbaya to ward off any mountain lions. It worked since we weren't attacked, but snakes must be immune to the song because one slithered through Craig's toes... EWWW!

After viewing waterfalls and walking through prehistorical forests, we made our way to Pebble Beach. This is a swanky golf resort built or owned (or something important) by Jack Nickolaus (the golfer not the actor). Green fees are $475 US and you can get your own caddy. We had a lovely lunch and Craig got me drunk on some locally brewed beer. (I only had one, but it was big). I  then told the pro shop their logo embroidery is crap... hahhah... just like that! We walked along the 17th and 18th holes and watched the golfers. It seems that just because you can afford a $500 round of golf, does not mean you can actually play... so says me. So back in the car we go, drove along more coastline... which is absolutely beautiful but smells like a fart I once had.

Craig had the time of  his life driving through more red wood forests. The turns literally were so sharp it was like doing a Uturn. What was unbelievable was that  people actually lived in the middle of these forest... I pitied the mailman !(

Another late night found us as we finally returned our rental and checked into the Fairmont (the very first Fairmont in the world!) This place is freakin' pimped. We got a real upgrade here... not a "Focus" upgrade a deluxe room upgrade... now that's what I'm talking about! We overlook the city and the Fairmont's Penthouse. The penthouse goes for $10,000 US a night. It comes with it's own service staff, ballroom, a 2-story library and use of the house Porsche.
