Cute little Bocas
From 26 days in Costa Rica in Bocas del Toro, Panama on Aug 27 '07
On our 4 day at P.Viejo Russ seemed to get better and we went out (for shitty) breakfast to see how it goes. It went OK. and we left for Panama. Took a bus to Sixaola. 1.5 hours of stomach torture and dust breathing.
Got out in the tiny dusty town and waalket to Costa Rican immigration. Got passports stameped and then walked across this totally crazy, freaky bridge, with rails and beams. I was affraid that I am going to loose my flip-flop in the river, or will trip and my leg is going to be stuck in between the beams.
On Panama side it's 1 hour ahead and immigration was on lunch break. BORDER IS COLOSED FOR LUNCH????!!!!!!! HELLO!!!! Amyway waited for 30 min or so. Got our passports stumped. Got collective taxi (with all the other tourists) to the dock then got a boat ride to Bocas del Toro. Bocas are very touristy and picturesque islands on the caribean coast of Panama. We didn't buy a Panama guide book, so we checked couple of places and ended up in a hotel that the guy we met on the boat recommended. Nothing exciting, but desent. Killed the evening by getting a water taxi across to the different island and laying on the beach. Had bad dinner at the hotel.
Next day got a boat trip to Dolphin bay and some other islands. The dolphins are soooo cute!.
Had pretty good dinner (for a change) in the pirate looking place.
