One big block of ice...

We arrived in Franz Josef, the town of the giant glacier, pretty late at night, and after checking in to our hostal, we decided we needed an evening in, especially as we had a TV and video in our room. Believe it or not, this travelling business can get quite tiring. Anyway, after a bit of chilling and selecting a video to watch, we decided to pop out and get a takeaway for dinner. Franz Josef is a pretty small town, but nothing prepared us for how dead the place was at 10pm! Not a single restaurant or bar in the entire town was still serving food!!! Anyway, finally giving up hope we headed back to our room, made jacket potatoes for ourselves (which were surprisingly good) and watched a couple of movies... a much needed rest.

The next morning we were up earlish and headed out to continue our drive to Queenstown. Enroute we stopped over to see the glacier that everyone was going on about - it would be rude not to. It was pretty impressive, although not quite as beautiful as Perito Moreno Glacier in Chile, it was good to be able to walk so close to it.
Further up to the road was Fox Glacier which we stopped briefly to take a look at - Once you've seen one big lump of ice....
