We were fortunate because our Hotel was a 5 minute walk from a combo Paris subway/commuter train station. So, we hopped on a commuter train to Versailles.  30 minutes later, we were in the burbs. The 10 minute walk to the palace was uneventful.  The palace jumps out at you like Disneyworld out of the swamp :) Definitely make sure you have a Paris Museum card because the lines were AWFUL to buy tickets!!!

The palace is easy to navigate.  The gardens are stunning- make sure you wander a bit to get a sense of the place.  The trek to the Hamlet is worth it- Marie Antoinnette was begging for a "farm" so she got one!!

The food offerings aren't so hot.  We ended up getting sandwiches and candy bars but they weren't all that great (well, the candy bars were tasty!).
