Visit to Prague
At the time of visiting the temperature was approx -7'c in the daytime and dipping to -20'c at night. A week prior to the trip the temp had gone as low as -30'c. Global warming doesn't seem to have reached this part of Eastern europe.
There's a fancy clock in the main square which wouldn't look out of place on the Antiques Roadshow.
Having worked in a freezer at -22'c I think I acclimatised quite quickly to the weather and to the ice underfoot.
Must-sees are the old Town Square, King Chas II Bridge and the groovy castle complex which is perched up on a hill on the other side of the Vlatava River.
There are regular boat tours which don't go very far... but the guides give a good description of all the key buildings by the riverbank on both sides. It lasts about an hour and there's a free beer and a weird czech cranberry jaffacake to warm you up.
A few words on the t'internet don't really do justice to the history of the place but it is diverse with influences from communism, catholicism, the Third Reich, Jews, gypsies, Bohemians, and Romans. The dude on the boat can tell you all about it.

Felt odd to step off the aeroplane back in Scotland and feel the heat like we were in some meditaranean country.
