After i messed around in Christchurch again....a few good nights out, sharing a dorm with about 8 hot guys and me and waiting for Jason to arrive at the airport in the middle of the night practically (thanks jason!) me and Jason were ready to head off to Queenstown. After an interesting incident with the bus and a failing alarm clock, we were on the bus at 10am, all set to get there! After 8 hours of boredom and Jason sleeping like a frog the majority of the way, we arrived at about 6pm.  There was a KFC..and a starbucks...and by the looks of it, lots of people-so far, so good.  We went down to the Queenstown version of BASE hostel, Discovery Lodge and set up camp in one of the dorm rooms.  We then decided that since it was our first night, we had better go out, so after a quick shower and some make up application (me, not Jason), we went out.  First we hit Altitude bar and Jason got some food whilst i just had a drink.  After meeting a few people, namely a rowdy group of tourist agents from Wellington, we headed off to World Bar (the same one as in Sydney) so that Jason could have the teapot experience.  What happened next was a very messy Jason, and bed at about 2.30 after dancing an awful lot.

The next day we got up and had a mooch around the town, lots of restaurants and bars, quite touristy really, before going up the skyline gondola and doing some lugeing.  Lugeing is cross between go-karting and toboganning, youre in a little cart with a lever and you sit down and just whoosh down a track! lots of fun! We did 6 rounds, a couple on the scenic for me (im just a big wuss really) and then lots on the extreme one (really really fast) Jason was zooming around nearly coming off and i was braking etc when i should be...can you tell which one of us has passed our driving test?  We then had a coffee and came back down the skyline which had gorgeous views over the city.  That night we took it easy, just got some food and then watched Beerfest (the movie) before trying to go to sleep at about 11pm.

The day after Jason was going to Milford Sound and i was going to do a horsetrekking day/afternoon. My day started at 12.30 when i was picked up and after a really gorgeous drive down, due to the views being fantastic of all the lakes and mountains, we got to the stables.  Due to me having some luck stored up, it was just me and the guide, so off we headed, me on a dark horse called Hayiti (Japanese for 'goes like the wind') for a trek around the land.

3 hours later and a lot of galloping, cantering, going through water, mud and up hills, i arrived back, exhausted and extremely sore and weak-kneed, but happy! The trek was fantastic and even better that it could be taken at just my pace, no one else having to be taken into account.  I then headed back, met up with Jason and we went out, Jason with the people he'd met on the Kiwi Experience bus to Milford Sound, and me with a random guy and a finnish girl whose name escapes me!

Jason left this morning to go to Kaikoura via Christchurch to do whale-watching, and tomorrow am i leave to go to Franz Josef glacier to do an icetrek up the glacier. Hopefully i will be a lot less sore and tired due to the sauna and hot tub at the hostel (yes hostel) that i am staying at in Franz Josef!  Cannot wait!!
