A rival for Switzerland

Today we had to leave Cristchurh, but we are certain that one day we will return to this extraordinary city.

Off to Mt Cook.  On the way we passed two gorgeous lakes.... can't remember the name of the second one, but the first one was Lake Tekapo.  The colour of the water was like nothing I have ever scene before, kind of an iridescent green.  With the snow-capped peaks in the background, it was picture postcard perfect.

The drive was only meant to be about 2 hours, but with our many stops to take photos and enjoy the scenery, it ended up taking us nearly 4 hours.

No organized tours today, so we were able to relax and take it all in.

Tomorrow we go on a boat ride out to the Tasman Glacier, so fingers crossed for Mandy that the 1/2 walk out to the boat isn't too hard on the ankle.
