We crossed the border fromm Czech Republic into Slovakia and stopped for lunch in the little town of Bratislava. We also had some time to walk the narrow cobbled streets and to shop at some market stalls.
Then we continued our drive and crossed the border into Hungary. We checked into our beautiful 5 star hotel- The Kempinski which was located in the city centre, near the river and just around the corner from a wonderful pedestrian shopping area. That night we had a wonderful dinner, complete with champagne and a buffet dinner cruise on the River Danube. We had all sorts of delicious Hungarian specialities such as Chicken Paprika and Hungarian goolash. We had coffee on the upper deck of the boat as we admired the beautiful buildings all lit up along the edge of the river.

The next day we took a bus ride out to the Hungarian countryside where we visited a Hungarian open air museum that showed what life was like hundreds of years ago in Hungarian villages. We had lunch of Hungarian goolash soup. We then traveled to the village of St. Andrews which is know for its art and handicrafts. We walked the narrow cobbled streets and picked up such items as hand painted wooden spoons and bags of the spice paprika.
That evening we had a traditional Hungarian meal (I chose the roast duck) in a quaint restuarant while we listened to traditional Hungarian music. After dinner we were able to stroll along the river and stop in the square and listen to the street musicians.
