So this is the biggest town....well between where i've just come from and thunder bay and its a classic example how malls can suck the life out of small city downtown. i got here on a thursday evening and said to myself that i would check out the nightlife. i walked down the mainstreet and i think i saw a 15 people. this place is about the size of galway and i could never imagine walking down shop street at 9.30 on a thursday evening and it being so dead. i then found out that all the action was at a bar which was part of a motel.. classy. it was pretty busy but it just had that feel that everyone knew everyone in there.

as for the town during the day, this is probably what niagara falls would be like if they didn't have the falls. the soo main attraction is its canal locks, which are a national park ut they're not exactly going to blow your mind. the town has created a nice enough river walk, with a pavilion to honor canadas first astronaut who came from here, that can pass some time on a sunny day.

plus you know a town is scrapping the bottom of the barrel when their main museum is about bush planes. i was knocking down the door to get into that one.

but the town did serve a purpose. give me a chance resupply do my laundry etc etc as there isn't all that much amenities out in the sticks which i shall be heading out to tomorrow.
