Drunk and Stoned, both at the same time

I arrived in Amritsar tired and ready to find a place to crash for the night. We went to search for a hotel and managed to find a classy suite for all 8 of us. We had a massive TV, good showers and it was luxury for us all. Obviously, there was nothing else to do except head out to the closest liquor store to buy some booze and have a party. A few rickshaw rides, some bottles of beer and some vodka were obtained and we were ready.

My group were Karina and Wyn, Eyal, Itamar, Eran, Maayan, Uni and myself. What a great group of people, I have to say. We played drinking games, smoked joints and chillums and a great night of partying. Come 3 or 4 in the morning I was absolutely shattered, after not sleeping the night before, but at 5 we decided to go to the morning session at the Golden Temple. Off we went, Me, Eran, Eyal and Maayan, drunk and stoned both at the same time, and entered the temple grounds. We were quickly ushered away as we forgot to take off our shoes. Once that little problem was sorted we entered and soaked up the atmosphere in the only way drunk and stoned people can, by losing each other. Well, we tried to stay for sunrise, but it got light and then we got too tired so we decided to head back quickly and get some sleep. We took our pictures and vowed to return to see the place properly.

Going drunk and stoned is one thing, but '2-full-power-chillum' stoned is quite another

While In Amritsar we went to the India-Pakistani border to see the whole ceremony. We came supporting India, with out flags and hats but the Pakis were grossly undersupported and the Indians certainly came away with the moral victory, but at the end, the border remained in the same place and no yards were won by either side. In fact, I think all that happened was just a show of which side could kick the their legs the highest...quite ridiculous really. Great atmosphere, shit game!

The following night was spent drinking and smoking in the room again, albeit on a slightly less racaus scale and we watched a couple of movies. Lying in bed at around 4am, Eyal, Maayan and I decided to hit a chillum or 2...2 chillums between 3 people is certainly full power and we were feeling pretty fucked...so we decided to hit the Golden Temple again for sunrise. Going drunk and stoned is one thing, but '2-full-power-chillum' stoned is quite another. We entered the long queue to go inside the Temple (something we didn't quite manage the previous time as I don't think we realised we could have entered) and were suddenly blocked in by more Indians behind us. I looked at Eyal and Maayan and said I think we've got ourselves involved in something here and I think I was right. I stood in the queue and laughed for a good 20 minutes at absolutely nothing and may have offeneded some of the Sikhs who actually came here sober and to pray. O well.

Eventually, we had to get out of there, as the sun was rising and we couldn't be arsed to wait to get inside the temple. We pushed our way back through the queue that had build up behind us, apologising profusely and then got out of there as quickly as we could. Bloody foreigners!

Anyway, 2 visits to the Golden Temple, and still not been inside. I guess I'll leave it for another trip.

That just about sums up Amritsar, except to say that the Chocolate Planet has the best chocolate fudge sundaes that I've tasted in India so far...full of chocolately goodness...highly recommended.

We said our goodbyes to the group and Karina, Wyn, Eyal and I headed into Rajastan. We waited at the bus station for a few hours and boarded a night bus to Bikaner...
