Sunny Swakopmund
From Trains and Boats then Planes in Swakopmund, Namibia on Dec 05 '06
After Walvis Bay, we drove up the coast to Swakopmund. It's a much more pleasant town than Windhoek, partly because it's quite easy to walk around, but also because it has a far more relaxed atmosphere.
The main event here was the opportunity to go quad-biking, sand-boarding, sky-diving or whatever other adrenaline-filled, hyphenated activity took our fancy. As it happened, our budget didn't stretch that far, so we retired to the internet cafe while our more adventurous companions did their stuff. By all accounts they had a great time. The 'combo' packages seem to be quite good value, compared to the prices in other parts of the world (Livingstone in particular).
That evening we had a group dinner at the Cape to Cairo restaurant, then headed to the nearest bar for a few drinks.
