First stop Spain
From I fancied a trip away from the UK, so I mentioned it to Lyn. She said she'd come with me, and in Calpe, Spain on May 01 '06

After a sunny landing it decided to rain and blow a gale for our 3 days in Calpe area. Still we managed to hire a car and visit Denia, Moraira (I ate some chiperones fritos, fried baby squid which I ate with Mum 6 years ago!). Also visited Altea - amazing photos, and saw a car being threatened with towing - she got back just in time to pay the fine!
Decided to take a bus back to Alicante to catch a train to Madrid (4 hours). But the buses had other ideas, and after waiting 2 hours with no buses turning up for Alicante, we opted to take the next bus that came - and ended up in Valencia!

Sunnnier, but then so is the rest of Spain now! Hostel full, so we had to find something else - 1* hotel - dingy room, basic, basic and no electricity in the plugs, or so we thought! Lyn had to go to the laundry room to make us a cuppa.
Transferred to the hostel, Likeathome for 2 nights. Better, though interesting sharing with a 57 year old Japanese man the first night.
Valencia beautiful - old buildings, touristic bus, boat trip at Albufeira, strolling through the Turia park (the old river bed but converted after major floods in 1957).

Good food, cooked ourselves a feast from someone else´s fresh leftovers tonight (FREE food!)
