We hit rain before we reached Bedford on the 17th, we got soaked to say the least. A good sized break under a Highway overpass, partially due to a flat on the cart Nate was pulling, convinced the sun to come out and dry our dripping outfit. We set up tent at dusk on an overgrown local road surrounded by fields and distant farmhouses. Nate got up early and surprised Tony and me with a wonderful breakfast of fresh applesauce and peanut butter on baguettes. A breakfast of champions.

We aspired to reach Sherwood Forest that night. As things go, it was a longer ride than we anticipated. In between here and there, I scored us an english shepherds garden outside Kittering with my ladylike charm. It still amazes me how people are willing to help if they're only asked. We rode through some more rain and a lot of interstate on and off ramps, not biker friendly to say the least.

We arrived in Nottingham on the 20th, we checked out the castle and proceeded to scour the city for food and internet. Nate stumbled upon an orange juice tasting survey in need of subjects, by the time we arrived they only needed one. Tony took the opportunity and drank 6 glasses of various juices, rating the best as Nate and I sat and waited, but thanks to the staff we got to sip on a cup ourselves.

We rode out of Nottingham that afternoon headed towards Derby. Just outside the city Tony took a detour to take some pictures of a castle, Nate didn't hear his call to stop and continued on. He's a speedy biker and was a good mile a head when I stopped to wait for Tony, knowing he wouldn't know which off ramp to take. A long story short, we ended up reuniting, Nate was relieved to see us again, having begun to panic at our disappearance. We rode through Derby and into the rain again, headed towards Ashbourne. We stopped near dusk and found a spot in a forested area off the highway.
