Monte Carlo
From Europe in 2008 in Monte Carlo, Monaco on May 09 '08
We head onwards and come towards th Monte Carlo casino and once embarking the coach everyone is in complete awe of this place. It is where the rich come to show off their luxury cars and come spend their money. The place is packed with visitors and both the casinos lit up and looking quite fantastic.
Earl leads us to Cafe De Paris where we all sit down to our drinks. After drinks we are given time to explore. We head to the souvenir store to pick up some very pricey souvenirs but I really don't think I will be returning that soon so I was willing to part with some Euros tonight.
The place where the rich people come to play
We make heads for the main casino and pass the plenty luxurious cars parked out front all inclusive of a Ferrari which is very common around here, a rolls Royce, plenty of Mercedes and Porsche. Very lavish.
We enter the first part of the casino which is no charge as you can see the entry and the beautiful chandeliers and marble internals. Onwards , if you wish to enter the actual casino to gamble, it is a cost of 9 Euro for entry fee.
We decided we were happy to see what we did and exit the main high rollers casino and head towards the other casino without charge. Stopping by to take pictures with our dream cars. As we do there are plenty people around and the atmosphere is something you need to experience yourself.
I enjoyed sitting and watching the different kinds of people. The ones all suited up, the ones that were in their casual gear, the ladies dolled up to the tea. it was very interesting being in that environments. Makes you wish you were making the amount of money some of these people make to live such a lavish life.
We head to the casino and no cameras are allowed. We headed in and like any casino its is bright with flashing lights and poker machines luring you.
We head over to the cashier counter to break a note , only to realise we are given tokens instead. Lyn and I chose a machine each and with our 10 euros shared, we try out luck on the poker machines. These particular ones are the ones with the levers so I was enjoying just that aspect. I turned my 4 euros into 29 euros which is not bad at all.
I did lose it all as quick as I won it. then gave my last 1 euro to Lyn who turned it into 40 euros. We decided we will take that win and run. Does not seem like much but 40 euro is $80 and after spending that much in the souvenir store we thought we would take the win and the our souvenirs were now free.
Time passes by and there are still people out and about. Our coach is ready to pick us up as we assemble at the main entrance of the casino. Right in front is the set up of the stands for the grand prix.
We see the ticket box and check out prices for a stand. 500 euros will get you a nice spot if you want to part with that much money.
Our evening ends with a drive through the beautiful lit up town of Monaco. Its times like these, you just envy the rich more then you already do. The boats are amazing and some private boats are as huge as homes. Its amazing the lifestyle some people are able to live.
We are just happy we were able to experience a minor part of it tonight.
Beautiful city , and perhaps one day I will return
