Taos -- maybe we weren't in the best frame of mind...
From NM-AZ trip - Oct. 2008 in Taos, United States on Oct 22 '08
Thursday morning, we planned to meet with a prospective designer for our new house. After that, we walked around the Taos plaza. As for Taos itself, I'd have to say that we didn't like it as much as we expected to. It may be because we were tired or altitude weary or a little depressed, but it just didn't seem that nice. The town was a little run down. There were a lot of spaces empty and available for rent. It did meet its reputation of being liberal, artsy, and a bit quirky, but also seemed tired and frayed around the edges.
We tried to go to the Taos Pueblo, which we'd heard was well worth a visit. It was closed, though, and the people at the gate were pretty unfriendly about the whole thing.
Not really what were expecting, but it could have just been us.
