Ah, Florence... the place where we proceeded to get "museum-ed out". At this point in our trip, our bodies were starting to fail us too! Definitely harder to wake up in the morning. Good thing is that Monica and I seem to alternate tired days so we manage to get the other person up and at 'em and maximize touring time! Still, can't wait for Greece and some reeeeeelaxation.

We booked our museum tickets in advance but at the Galleria del'Accademia, we got there so early that we didn't need them. :) I LOVE MICHANGELO'S DAVID. Monica does too but maybe not to my extent, hehe. When we first saw him, we just stared. The sculpture was amazing.. really beyond words. I, at one point, really thought he was going to start moving. We could have sat there for hours and marvelled at the sculpture. I think he was in his early twenties when he sculpted David. Really, it's just stunning. THe consequence is that neither of us remember much else from that museum, hehe.

After putting around for a bit, we went to the Uffizi Gallery, which houses a huge collection of Florentine and Italian art. It was crowded at this time so it was hard to really look around carefully. Paused at the major art pieces but the lack of fresh air at the 5 foot 2 inch level ("I wish I was a little bit taller") was too much to bear after awhile. Starting to develop a like for paintings. The sculpture in this gallery were alright.. but really, David ruined it all for me. :)

Today was our FEAST day too. We heard that we had to eat biscetta alla florentina, a Florence specialty. It's a huge plate of bloody meat! Monica was in heaven, and I participated to the best of my ability. 1 kilogram of steak. Imagine.
