Our first fun getaway weekend while at ASBC...

Traveling along I-10 to get to New Orleans from Montgomery, Alabama, was an experience.  There is a lot of bridge to be traversed when getting to New Orleans from the east... and you get a good eyeful of the Gulf of Mexico as well.

Expensive but priceless...

Once you enter the boundaries of the city of New Orleans, it kind of looks like any other city you'd encounter in the southern US.  You need to get to the French Quarter to really get to what makes New Orleans unique.  That first visit to the French Quarter makes the first visit to New Orleans truly worthwhile.

The street names are mostly, if not all French.  There are beads everywhere, in the streets and in the many shops.  And the food is truly unique, oft-imitated in many parts of the world, but a taste or two here and you'll be more than satisfied.

There's no shortage of things to do in New Orleans, especially for adults young and old.  Bourbon Street is not to be missed for anyone of at least an adult age.  With kids, such as is the case with us, you can still find things to do, places to see, shops to visit and shop at, and streets to walk.
