The bus journey from Nairobi took around five hours in total, including the time at the border organising visas etc.

Not the most comfortable bus I've sat on and with slightly less leg room than Ryanair's smallest planes!

However, it was a fantastic experience as the countryside was stunning - proper savanna with interesting villages on the way (both in Kenya and Tanzania).  All along the way there were Maasai herdsmen with their goats/cattle/donkeys (or all of the above!).

Coming into Tanzania Mount Meru appeared ahead of us, marking out for me that Arusha was not far off.  The extinct volcano is very close to the town and, although much smaller than Kilimanjaro to the east is nonetheless an impressive sight!

Finally made it to the guest house in Arusha and after a long wait followed by a room change I was able to dump my bag.  Went into the town briefly to change some money and get a sim card (very exciting!)

Caught up on a couple of hours sleep before heading out to dinner with my project manager.
